Wherever you go in Spain, you will usually find yourself travelling around the resort by taxi. They are efficient and useful for short journeys, and a short escape from the heat. There are several taxi networks on Lanzarote. Usually by municiplality, there are ten different taxi numbers depending on your locality.
Taxis operate to strict rules - they won't overload, seatbelts must be worn at all times (even if not by the driver), and you can't go in topless. They also won't pick up if they aren't in their 'home' area. So don't be upset if one doesn't stop for you - this is probably why.
If there aren't any taxis around, you can call for a taxi. Explain where you are, where you are going to and they will come and pick you up. You will be given a number when you call which you give to the driver to identify yourself.
